Impact 100 Announces Photo Contest

Impact 100, the women’s philanthropic organization that has awarded more than $1.2 million dollars in grants in the past four years to Indian River non-profits, has announced a photo contest open to amateur photographers in the county. There is no entry fee to participate. The winner will receive $250; second place, $175; and third place $100. An anonymous donor has donated the prize money on behalf of Impact 100. The photos will be used in videos and various publications for Impact 100.

“The photos should depict the essence of what Impact 100 is all about,” explains Vice President, Communications Martha Lemasters. “We will assign each of the photographers to two of our community partners to take photographs. We are looking for the humanity of our grants…the achievement of our grants in touching photos depicting an end result,” she explains. Each photographer can enter up to 12 images for consideration. For more information about Impact 100 contestants should refer to the Impact 100 video now playing on Youtube.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnpP2yrvBbg.

Finalists will be invited to the annual Press Conference on March 8th where their photos will be displayed in a video and the winners announced.

Judges will include Aric Attas, Director of Photography at Vero Home, Life and Design magazine, as well as an instructor at the Vero Beach Museum of Art; Kelly Rogers, Visuals Editor, Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers; Mary Schenkel, Vero Beach 32963; and Laura McDermott and Martha Lemasters from Impact 100. Digital photos may be uploaded to Aric Attas at attas@photonlab.com. First place winner will receive $250; second place $150 and third place $100. All photos submitted will be used for promotion of Impact 100. Deadline for entering is Thursday, February 21, 2012.

By submitting images to the Impact 100 Photo Contest photographers agree that their images may be used by Impact 100 of Indian River County for marketing and or promotional purposes. This may include, but is not limited to, publications of all kinds, use on websites and other electronic venues. Copyright and other rights remain with the photographer.
