Observations – Street Art Wynwood Art District Miami

We had a great trip to Miami on Saturday to check out the Wynwood Art District Art Walk. Of course we stopped at Versailles for an amazing cafe con leche before heading over to Wynwood. We arrived as a film crew was breaking down their lighting equipment. Apparently they used Versailles as a location for a new film by Jon Favreau called Chef. The movie is about a chef in L.A. who looses his restaurant job and decides to open a food truck. The lighting geek in me was happy to see the truckloads of lighting equipment.

I grabbed this shot as we were walking out of Now Contemporary Art. Their current show Timeless Matter features art made of simple materials including buttons, pencils, zip ties and cut up cartoon strips. It must of put me in a “colorful” frame of mind because this image struck me immediately. I shot 2 frames and walked on. I love the pop of the color against the black wall as well as the contrast between the concrete wall and the soft, floating clouds in the background. Pure fun!
