The Creative Photographer Exhibition At The Vero Beach Museum Of Art

Over the summer I worked with a fantastic group of Veterans in a creativity workshop called The Creative Photographer at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. Each week participants were given a creative challenge to get them to venture outside of their comfort zones. The results were surprising, insightful and innovative. I want to thank them as their compassion, curiosity and courage made this an amazing experience!

Here are some photographs of the exhibition held in the Patten Gallery at the Vero Beach Museum of Art on view from August 5 – September 4, 2022.

Our Patten Community Gallery mixed-media exhibition displays photographs and acrylic paintings from recent classes offered to Veterans. Local gallery owner and MAS instructor Barry Shapiro led discussions in the galleries from the exhibition Vero Collects: Hidden Treasures Revealed, and then brought students to the Museum Art School’s studios to learn about color mixing, drawing and design, and brush techniques through the acrylic painting process. Local photographer and MAS instructor Aric Attas guided participants through photographic strategies to help discover unique perspectives, see new patterns and themes not readily apparent, and develop personal insight. Both classes enthusiastically shared their artworks for the exhibition, unveiling the creative nature of our wonderful Veterans!
